 Storytime with Ruby

When was the last time you did something for the first time?

I'll go first.

This weekend I skied for the very first time.

I took lessons in the morning, and honestly I was exhausted halfway through the lessons. By lunch I didn’t think I could handle taking a lift to the real thing…

But my self study practice training kicked in and I thought:

Ruby, you are here. You’re gonna do the thing. You’re gonna be ok. You can walk back if you need to — or call for help (permission to make it work for you and even fail miserably)— Me to me: I trust you. We can do brave things. You know that freedom is on the other side of courage. And there’s no pressure to be good at it, keep up, or ever do it again. Let’s go.

So I did it.

And as we took the second lift deeper into the mountain, and I looked around at the silent, incredible views, I thought: I would’ve missed this. I’m so glad I’m here.

And then I struggled, stumbled, and boogied back down the mountain at the back of our group. I went at my own pace and I didn’t have to walk or call for help.

And I’m so glad I did. I had so much fun being afraid and doing it anyway!

Do you remember what it felt like the last time you did something for the first time?

Was it scary? Because I was terrified.

Here's the thing: it's fear's job to keep you safe. (That's a good thing. Thanks, fear!) But if we're always playing it safe, we might miss out on the incredible views, profound encounters, and breath-taking experiences that are just around the corner

Life is to be LIVED, but so often anxiety (a very convincing flavor of fear) keeps us stuck in a rut.

I want to remind you that it doesn’t have to be that way.

You can be bold— and do it your way.

The My Self Study Practice shows us that you can experience the Freedom life has to show you when you follow Trust into Courage.

So the next time something new presents itself, instead of saying no because it's unfamiliar,  what would happen if you chose to be a yes? -- Like show up with your whole damn self saying "yes, I'm here; let's go."

There's a first time for everything!

See you there?!

You're Doing Great,
Ruby
